“GeoTracker Experiment” is a smartphone application that has been developed by Osaka University and Kobe Institute of Computing in Japan, to assess the quality of people’s daily travel movement and share the aggregated data at a city level. The GeoTracker will simply record the locations of the agreed users in every 30 seconds, and thus calculate travel time and speed from origin to destination, time spent waiting for public transportation.
The experiment results in an aggregated level can be shared by all the GeoTracker users/participants. The aggregated experiment results data are opened only to authorized participants such as transportation planners in government and transportation operators who are responsible for the improvement in public transportation service and traffic environment.
