About Gestures for Hi-Res Audio Reco Android App

This is a free app, with no ads.

Use gestures in full screen app to control recording in Hi-Res Audio Recorder app:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stereomatch.mp3.audio.recorder

app should already be setup/working before you use this Gestures app.

Summary: Swipe up/down/left/right to Record/Pause/Stop/Play.

TalkBack users: these gestures won't make any sound, so it is a good way to avoid TalkBack sounds in recordings. TalkBack users can use just one finger to draw gestures, making it really easy to use just your thumb to control recording while holding phone in one hand. See TalkBack section below.

Note: Our audio recorder apps also have a built-in drawing surface (Click Settings - Show/Hide apps - Gesture Overlay), but it is smaller in size.

Gestures

Press down on screen near bottom of screen and slowly move up to the top (swipe up gesture) - to Record. Swipe Down to Pause, Left to Stop, Right to Play next recording.

Start by using these gestures slowly to ensure they work correctly. Once you are comfortable about what works/doesn't work, you will be able to use gestures, without thinking.

Note: it is safe to tap on the screen - since short gestures will be ignored.

TalkBack screen reader users

TalkBack users can use just 1 finger to make gestures.

It may take some practice to draw some gestures for TalkBack users, because of the slowness of touch events being delivered to apps when TalkBack is on.

To practice, first press 1 finger and hold for 1 second, and then swipe up, and hold for 1 second again before removing finger from screen. Once you know it works, you will eventually be able to draw these gestures just with your thumb while holding your phone in one hand.

TalkBack users can also use 2 finger gestures if they want.

Normally TalkBack users have to use two fingers to draw in drawing apps, however we have added ability to do that with just one finger for TalkBack users.

Vibration & Sound Feedback in audio recorder apps

Vibration Feedback is On by default in our audio recorder apps.

You will be able to sense vibration feedback to indicate recording state.

Click Settings - Vibration & Sound - turn On to have sound feedback as well. Try different settings for Audio Channel there to get best sound (since this can vary by device).

If vibrations are appearing in your recording, go to Settings - Vibration & Sound - and increase Record Delay setting, or reduce Vibration Duration setting.

Best practices

This is a full screen app - it covers the notification area as well. It has no buttons, so there is no risk of touching buttons during recording.

To others it will appear as a black screen, with Android Back and Home buttons visible at bottom. The audio recorder apps will show their usual notification when recording.

Our audio recorder apps have Run App buttons, which can be used to launch this Gestures app. If you feel the need for a simpler interface, you can switch to Gestures app, and then press Back button to return to the audio recorder.

Troubleshooting

After device restart, give your device time to stabilize before using gestures.

Android Pie's optimizations may make gestures respond slower (especially on device startup). Disable battery optimizations for audio recorder. Or just run audio recorder once before using Gestures app. Long term solution is to turn on Notification Always On button (located above Counter) in audio recorder app. Response to gestures will now be faster (even after device restart).

On starting Gestures app, focus will be on main view. If focus moves to Back button or other buttons, you can move focus back by just clicking on main view (touching will not be seen as a gesture).

While app is on screen, the screen will remain on - so no interruptions from the lock screen.

Send feedback to e-mail for this app, or click Menu - Contact from audio recorder app.
