About GPS Logger Android App

Actaluna GPS Logger is a tiny app that records location information in the background. The intended use case is to record location information for cameras without built-in GPS capability.

Features:
• Simple and easy-to-use control interface. One-click and it's ready to go.
• Place marks with photo supported.
• Built-in log manager to save as GPX file format or share with cloud storage.

How to use:

Before your trip:
1. Install the app on your smart phone.

2. Adjust the clock of your camera to be the same as your smart phone.

During your trip:
1. Start the app. Click the START button to start the GPS logger.
The GPS logger starts logging in the background. The red location service icon start blinking (Recording).

2. Click the PAUSE button to pause logging. For example, when you go back to the hotel in the evening. The red location service icon stop blinking (Paused).
Click the RESUME button to resume logging. For example, when you leave hotel and start your activity in the morning.

3. Take photos with your camera during your trip as usual. Just make sure your mobile phone is nearby and the GPS Logger is logging.

4. Click the STOP button to stop logging. e.g. When you finish your trip.

Notice:
• The screen can be turned off to save battery power. The app can continue logging in the background.
• Network connection is not a must have and can be turned off. However, the accuracy will be improved with network connection. For situations with poor GPS reception such as indoor or subway, the network connection is recommended.

When back home from your trip:

The location information can be added to your photos by:
1. Start the GPS Logger app on your smart phone.
Invoke the Log Manager by clicking the Globe icon on the upper right corner.

2. In the Log Manager, find the log of your trip. Tap the Overflow button on the right of the log item. Choose Rename to give the log a new name. For example, the date and city of your trip.

3. Tap the Overflow button of the log and choose Save. The log will be saved in the /GPSLogs/ folder with the name given in GPX file format. Connect the smart phone to your PC and transfer the GPX file to the PC.

For cloud storage service like Dropbox: Tap the Overflow button of the log and choose Share. Then choose the Dropbox app. The log will be saved in Dropbox. On your PC, open your Dropbox folder and sync the log file to your PC.

4. Import the photos from the camera to your PC. e.g. Insert the SD card to the SD card reader of your PC.

5. Download and install GeoSetter on your PC ( http://www.geosetter.de/en/ ).
Use GeoSetter to match the photos with the location information saved in the GPX file.
GeoSetter will add location information to the EXIF of your photos.

6. That's it.
