Guercino – Painting for the visually impaired
The application was devised by volunteer IT students of the Bucharest Polytechnic to aid people with visual impairments enjoy art more fully.
Learn more about Guercino’s painting Saint Benedict and Saint Francis listening to an Angel Playing the Violin by listening to the voice. General information is complemented by music composed by Cavalieri, Cavalli, and Bertali in an attempt to suggest sound-related images of the saints and the angel.
Features:
• Possibility to choose preferred language (Romanian, French and English).
• Automatic vertical display on screen.
• General information about the painting and its author.
• Three touch-sensitive areas broadly delineate the space occupied by the St Benedict, St Francis and the angel. To listen to specific aural information about them followed by voices associated with the respective saints and violin music, glide your fingers on the screen without interruption.
