Nigerianology.... the nigeria history presented in a fun way
The Nigerianology project was borne out of the need of Nigerians to know their history. It is basically a science of inculcating Nigerian systems & values, history and antecedents with the main aim of reinforcing our lost identity as a nation.
As a result of removing history & civic studies in our primary schools, we have created citizens who do not know their past, a situation of confused/lost identities which reduces patriotism and knowledge of civil rights.
By bringing history and presenting it in a fun way, we hope to kick-start a surge in interest in motherland, a national re-orientation on the roles of citizenship and a testimonial to how the leaders in the past fared in their own times.
A nation that doesn’t cherish its history and antecedents, and also doesn’t know the sacrifices of its founding fathers, will bring up rebellious and dispirited citizens, with low citizen participation in nation building. A pre-play of history brings to fore the courage, dynamism and dedication of the founding fathers; it exhumes the purpose of their togetherness of moving for independence and their exploits towards nation building.
It well bodes in to the sacrifices they made towards national development, and their collective resolve to move the nation in the right direction in spite of their obvious religious and ethnic differences.
It also reveals the differences along ethnic lines and the problems it brings to fore; as well as the wisdom to which these issues were managed and the beautiful nature in our diversity.
How were these young men and women able to move the nation forward as a youth (most were in their 30s or early 40s when they became national leaders)? Are these guyz super-humans to put the nation first before ethnicity & religion? Are they wiser than us? What has gone wrong with the Nigerian Youth? What can we gain from their failures, conquests and defeats? Why has the nation failed in creating worthy successors to these Nigerian Heroes? Why do we keep referring to them as the best leaders after more than five decades? What are the necessary ingredients that made them successful?
