This is the first version of ResQ!
Need for this app:
-Every year, 218 million people are affected from natural disasters globally
-Although there are emergency services for help, solely relying on only a single line of help can reduce chances of survival
-Besides, not having access to adequate help in time, the second most common form of fatality during a natural disaster is not having access to resources after the disaster such as, including but not limited to, fresh food, clothing, and shelter
-The lack of resources at the right time often leads to civil disobedience, thus endangering more peoples' safety.
Some Prior Stats.
-during a disaster, the response time of 911 services in the United States can be delayed be an average of 30 minutes according to FEMA
-in 2013, storms alone were responsible for 1,833 deaths with a total economic damage of $125 million
-similarly, floods in 2013 affected 11,000,000 according to Reuters
-an IFRC study from 2009 concludes that the main reason for much of the fatalities is due to ineffective communication between aid agencies and impoverished people
-Scientific American recommends that social networking is the best way to getting help to people
