The first version.
Interactive Tool for Energy Measurement (I.T.E.M) helps to measure energy consumption of mobile devices such as phones and tablets. I.T.E.M. can be visually configured to perform certain hardware-related measurement scenarios such as downloading data or adjusting screen brightness. The benefits of scenario-driven measurement it tight control of hardware usage in order to deliver repeatable and truthful results of energy consuption measurement. It is utmost important to mention, that you still need an oscilloscope, multimeter or other hardware capable to measure voltage and current. There are total 8 measurement scenarios available:
1. CPU, searching prime numbers.
2. Wi-Fi and mobile data, downloading files from a web server. Although default webserver is provided (courtesy of Czech Technical University in Prague), though it can be easily replaced by your own webserver.
3. Bluetooth data transmission
4. NFC transmission through Android Beam
5. Screen brightness
6. I/O storage operations
7. Audio playback
8. RAM access
Each measurement scenario is highly customizable through a vast array of relevant parameters. The most importantly, all scenarios run for configurable amount of time, making it easy to pair with energy measurement. Moreover, you can assemble a measurement plan by creating a sequence of scenarios in order to make measurement more autonomous. There is a cooldown period of 10 s between scenarios, so energy measurement will not include any noise. Simply create a plan, turn your multimeter on and have a snack. No surveillance is needed. See text log on screen for more details how is your plan doing.
