Multimedia guide of the collection of the Brazilian Geographic Historical Institute (IHGB).

Founded in 1838, it is the oldest Brazilian cultural institution. Created by a group of politicians and intellectuals, over 200 years of uninterrupted activities gathered great names of Brazilian life, such as the Emperor Don Pedro II, Brazilian Presidents, Writers, Academicians among other personalities.

The IHGB collection was formed from the generous donations from its members over decades. His vast bibliographical and museological documentation constitute one of the richest Brazilian collections. The objects that constitute the original nucleus of the Museum are the result of scientific expeditions with human fragments, minerals and animals, ruins of monuments, mortuary masks and works of art, as well as documents from public and private archives.
