This virtual reality documentary, from Datavized director Debra Anderson, is a two-part immersive experience about the power of virtual reality to inspire empathy in its audience.
Filmed in New York City on a 3D (stereoscopic) 360° camera system in April, 2015 during the Tribeca Film Festival, In\Formation documents interviews with virtual reality pioneers working at the crossroads of storytelling, immersive journalism, gaming and neuroscience through a deep dive into their projects, motivations and speculations.
Part 1 of In\Formation (15 min) features interviews with VR pioneers including Nonny de la Peña, James George, Jacquelyn Ford Morie, Brian Chirls and Vincent Morisset. These interviews are enhanced through the inclusion of other visual elements - generative animation, photography and moving image archival works. Part 2 (10 min) immerses audiences in two virtual reality installation projects (created in collaboration with MIT) selected for the 2015 Tribeca Storyscapes new media showcase - The Enemy by Karim Ben Khelifa and The Machine To Be Another by BeAnotherLab.
This experience requires use of a Google Cardboard viewer.
