iRecover is a tool for coaches and sport scientists to facilitate the monitoring of an athlete's training load and recovery. A precise understanding of how training loads have an effect on an athlete’s recovery is essential to prescribing the right type and amount of training in order to achieve the optimum performance level. By tracking an athlete’s training load, it ensures that both sufficient training loads are implemented and that excessive loads are not. This prevents the risk of undertraining (under-performance) and overtraining (injuries).
1) A wellness questionnaire is a simple and cost-effective monitoring tool for coaches that provides useful information about how an individual athlete is responding to training. Research highly recommends to implement this tool on a regular basis throughout the training season.
2) Session RPE is a subjective method of quantifying training load that is calculated by multiplying the session intensity (0-10 Borg Scale) by the duration of the session in minutes.
