KIFR AM 1690 is the Irving High School Freedom Radio station operated by Irving High School USMC JROTC and it’s cadets, in partnership with KIRV students. The official station name is Irving HS JROTC as listed with the FCC. The radio frequency is AM 1690; and available via airwaves, internet and phone application.
KIFR, Irving High School Freedom Radio Station, will provide a hands on radio broadcasting experience for students, and is supported by the Air Power Foundation and American Airlines. It will air patriotic stories and share interviews with heroes and veterans. It will broadcast the latest news and information with what is happening at Irving High School and the local community. There will be live and pre-recorded interviews with veterans, teachers, cadets, coaches, family members and local community members. Advertising can be pre-recorded or read by cadets or USMC staff. The goal is to educate cadets on broadcasting management as well as to raise funds to support MCJROTC cadet competitions and equipment that is outside the current ISD and USMC budget.
