JourneySmart aims to take the hassle out of claiming back your business mileage. It remembers your trips for you, automatically.

For each journey you complete JourneySmart will log your location at your departure and your destination, it then uses this to get the mileage information from Google Maps between those two points. This information is then saved in the form of a start postcode and end postcode along with your travel time, start and end times.

To make claiming mileage as easy as possible, you are able to add 'journey types'. Each journey type you add allows you to specify the mileage rate, a description and a ledger code (for importing into financial systems). When completing a journey, you will be asked to pick a 'journey type', it will then calculate what you are owed for the mileage you have covered for that journey.

You can export your journeys easily from the app straight into a .CSV file ready to be sent to your companies Accounts department or for editing in a spreadsheet package of your choice. This is particularly useful when doing self-assessment tax forms or a P87 from HMRC.

Helpfully, on the home screen of the app, JourneySmart shows you a running total of the mileage, remuneration and travel time you have accrued since a particular date (specified in the settings). So you can check at a glance how much mileage expenses you have accrued at any time.

When your phone automatically connects to your cars' Bluetooth, JourneySmart will start a journey for you and vibrate to confirm.

At the end of the journey when your phone becomes disconnected from your cars' Bluetooth, JourneySmart will ask you if you would like to end the journey, say 'yes' and select the journey type and that journey will be saved. If you select 'no' or ignore the prompt then your journey will continue until you end it.

Journeys can be manually started, ended or cancelled at any time.

If you want to add a journey manually that has already happened, then you can do so by selecting 'Add Previous' from the home screen of the app.

This app requires an active data connection and GPS to work. None of the data logged is shared or logged anywhere other than on your device.
