About Kaiju Kaboom Android Game

The mighty kaiju returns to its island home, only to find it crawling with people and their little buildings. Use your mighty powers to clear as many of them off the island as you can.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For reasons unknown even to the mighty Kaiju, you need to launch this app from Daydream's library while in VR mode. If you run it as you would other apps, it will likely not work, and you'll have to close the process via the task switcher before you can run it successfully in VR mode.

In Kaiju Kaboom, you start with the ability to hurl boulders at the populace, and you can unlock three additional weapons as you play. Watch out, though: the people of the island will start to fight back! Police and soldiers will shoot at you, and each hit reduces the time you have to clear that portion of the island.

This is a good old-fashioned video game project. No micropayments. No tracking of personal information. No ads. No DLC. No loot boxes. No asset store flips. Instead, it was made by a single developer with inspiration, a Daydream headset, a few weeks in Summer 2019, and a stack of software. For less than the price of a fancy cup of coffee, you can play it until the cows come home (which would be good DLC, but like I said: No DLC).

This project is based on my team's 2019 Global Game Game Project, which you can check out at https://globalgamejam.org/2019/games/kaiju-homecoming. Kaiju Kaboom builds upon that core gameplay and moves it into virtual reality.

I am releasing this game under GPL 3.0. This means, among other things, that customers have access to the source code. The Google Play Store does not have a way to automate this, so if you're a customer and you want the source code, reach out to me over email.
