The Kay Say and Match app helps very young children to learn the special pictures that are used to measure vision, ready for a professional eye test. The app is aimed at children aged from 15 months who are just learning to talk, and to help children over 24 months learn to match.
The Name game teaches the names and sounds of the six Kay Picture optotypes (vision testing pictures). Knowing the picture names will give the child confidence to perform a professional vision test earlier than otherwise.
The Match game associates the six pictures with cartoon animations to help learn the concept of matching the same picture. The game is fun and easy, with sounds and cheering rewards.
The Practice game simulates the key aspects of a professional vision test, where the picture to be matched is shown separately, remembered, then matched. This game does not measure vision, but allows a very young or shy child to practice in a fun way and gain familiarity and confidence before an eye test.
The Test game is an in-app purchase. This provides a speaking matching card to be used during a professional vision test. Each picture says its name (in English) when touched, making it easier for the examiner to hear which picture has been chosen, and more fun for the child. This is particularly helpful for children with some additional needs, such as autism. This game works best on a large-screen phone or tablet.
