La tecnologia LED (Light-Emitting Diodes) rappresenta l’evoluzione dell’illuminazione. L’illuminazione LED
è più efficiente dal punto di vista energetico, ha una durata maggiore ed è più sostenibile.
Grazie all’elevato illuminamento caratteristico delle lampade e lampadine a led, è possibile sostituire con esse anche le lampade fluorescenti (compatte o al neon) con equivalenti a led che consumano molta meno energia, cioè di potenza (in watt) decisamente inferiore, conseguendo un rilevante risparmio economico.

Attualmente i led hanno un’efficienza luminosa fino a 120-140 lm/W, rispetto ai:

· 13 lm/W delle lampade ad incandescenza
· 16 lm/W per le alogene
· 50 lm/W per le fluorescenti
