Generic drugs are drugs that have expired patents, so that it can be produced by all the pharmaceutical companies without paying royalties. There are two types of generic drugs, which is a trademarked generic drugs and generic drugs are marketed under the brand bearing the active substance.

According Handayani (2007), the public perception, the demand and needs of the community of generic drugs in the hospital is not a factor of the low use of drugs, but rather caused by poor public knowledge about the drug itself.

Generic drugs are drugs that naming is based on the content of certain active substances in a drug and does not use a trademark. These drugs are circulating in pharmacies and widely recommended by doctors to their patients. When doctors give drugs to patients, they rarely explain the function of each drug.
