About Map Image Viewer Android App
This app allows you to use an image/photo/scan of a map with all the advantages of phone GPS, localization etc; any map, form hi-res scan of trail maps, to a photo of an adventure park, can be used.
Currently the app allows you to:
- open and explore a big image (currently supported format are JPEG and PNG);
- use the image as a maps overlay, with geolocalization, GPS position and stuff;
This is done by placing two position marks on the map image, referencing two locations on the world map; this allows the app to overlay the image (any image) on the world map. Of course the precision of the overlap depends on the precision of the marks!
This is the first version of the app, so only basic functions are available. More functions will come soon!
note: of course the use of any image is subject to copyright rules. For most trail maps, this imply you must own a printed copy of the map to use its scans.
