La ciutat de Girona viu un dels seus millors moments culturals. L’aposta que aquest govern ha fet des del primer moment per la cultura com a motor econòmic i pol d’atracció turístic està començant a donar grans resultats. Dins d’aquesta nova estratègia hi ha la creació de la marca Girona Ciutat de Festivals, que integra els principals festivals de la ciutat així com aquells de nova creació, com Nits de Clàssica, el MOT o el mateix FIMG.

El Festival Internacional de Mapping de Girona neix de la necessitat de dotar Girona d’un nou atractiu a l’estiu, i ho fem obrint-nos camí en un àmbit que tot just està a les beceroles: les projeccions 3D. Girona té precedents en aquesta matèria que han donat molt bons resultats, i és un lloc idoni per fer-ho, un plató pràcticament únic a Europa que permet una perfecta combinació d’innovació i patrimoni.

Aquest nou festival s’obre camí aprofitant sinergies amb el Centre 3D i Tecnologies Emergents Bloom, potenciant la creació contemporània i atraient talents a escala internacional per continuar reforçant el rol de capital cultural del país que hem adoptat en els últims temps. Arrisquem una vegada més en pro dels objectius d’esdevenir referents amb festivals que engloben tots els àmbits culturals, trencant esquemes amb propostes com el FIMG que, de ben segur, no deixaran indiferent a ningú.
