The Bhagavad Gita is considered one of the most sacred of Hindu scriptures and the crux of all Vedic knowledge. The Gita is a collection of 700 verses and is part of the mega epic Mahabharata - written in Sanskrit by sage Ved Vyas. According to researchers, the story of the Mahabharata happened around 3,000 BCE. Mahabharat is the tale of dynastic struggle for the throne between Pandava and Kaurava princes, resulting in a devastating war. Each character in the story is well-crafted and has a unique moral representation.
Though the Gita was rendered about 5,000 years ago, it is still very much relevant to our current-day life. Many have written commentaries on the Gita with different interpretations. It encompasses truth about life and death, talks about many types of yoga, and details many aspects of human struggle with vices and how to deal with them. The Gita, used as an inspirational guide and self-help book by many people around the world, transcends religious and cultural boundaries.
The Bhagavad Gita, comprising 700 verses in 18 chapters, takes about three hours of non-stop recitation. Many people recite it every day while some read one chapter a day. However, for many of us it is difficult to recite all 700 verses every single day - or even occasionally. The Mini Gita captures the essence of Bhagavad Gita in 70 verses. These 70 verses have been carefully selected after diligent study. These 70 verses can be recited in 10-15 minutes, making it easy to read it every day.
