Either visual or sound prompts can be selected.
The number of repetitions can be set.
Menu choices of prompt type (sound, visual, vibrate), number of repetitions, etc. are automatically saved and reloaded.
Minor program fix.
ReactionTime measures reaction time from a prompt (sound, visual or touch) until the user reacts by producing a sound (a dog clicker works well).
ReactionTime uses sound as a response for a more accurate and flexible measure than responding to a screen button tap.
Using an audio response allows accurate time measurement based on audio recording at precise intervals (e.g. 44100 Hz). Using buttons to measure reaction time suffers from the variable latency of response to a button tap, inherently less predictable or accurate.
Using sound for the reaction is adaptable for science education experiments that measure the user reaction time at the:
hand,
foot,
wherever a reaction sound can be produced.
Three different signals initiate a single reaction time test and when the user should respond with a sharp sound are:
visual - the screen blinks red,
audio - the application clicks,
touch - the phone vibrates (default is off).
The three signals allow testing reaction times dependent upon three different senses.
