About Namaz Salat Guide (Urdu Eng) Android App

Salat is the Muslim form of formal worship. Muslims offer Salat five times a day. This App helps you learn how to offer Salat.

Normally, Salat should be offered in congregation in a mosque a place dedicated to Divine worship but it may be held anywhere, the only requirement being that the place chosen should be clean.

A formal Prayer consists of units. One unit is a rak'ah and more than one units are raka'ät. A formal Islamic Prayer is 2, 3 or 4 raka'ät depending on the time of Prayer and the kind of Prayer.

Before a worshipper commences his Prayer, he should cleanse his body and ensure that his clothes are also clean. He should perform Wudhu and then stand in a row along with other worshippers behind the Imam, the person who leads the Prayer, all facing towards the Ka'aba. The rows must be perfectly straight and the worshippers should stand shoulder to shoulder but in no way in a position to interfere with each other's Prayer. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was very particular about the straightness of rows.

Thus, arranging themselves in rows behind the Imam, each worshipper should then make his intention as to which Prayer he is going to offer and then recite

Of all religious obligations, Islam has laid greatest emphasis on the institution of Salat. It is enjoined upon every Muslim to pray five times a day. Besides the five obligatory Prayers, there are other types of Prayers which are optional.

A Muslim takes the spiritual side of life as seriously as a worldly person takes the material side of it. As air and food are essential for our physical life, likewise, we cannot survive spiritually without offering Salat or Prayer regularly in different parts of the day.

Salat is one of the five fundamental requirements that a Muslim is obligated to perform. Salat is given the highest priority in the Holy Quran. There are many benefits of Salat described in the Book of Allah. It says, innassalata tanha anil fahsha'i, Surely Prayer restrains one from indecency. (29:46) In chapter Luqman, We read that when Hadhrat Luqman was giving advice to his son, the first and foremost on his mind was to remind his son, ya bunayya aqimissalat "O my dear son,! observe Prayer." (31:8)

According to a Hadith the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) is reported to have said, inna fissalati shifa'a " verily there is cure in salat ". According to a Muslim scholar, as reported in monthly Urdu magazine, Tahazibul Akhlaq, Aligarh, India, a Muslim who offers salat regularly has very little chance of getting arthritis as we exercise our bones and joints while we offer salat.

In the light of this Hadith we shall endeavor to describe some orthopedic benefits of salat in this short note.

Salat is an excellent form of exercise to prevent indigestion. In the morning when stomach is empty, a Muslim is required to offer fewer number of Rak'aat whereas in the evening after the dinner we offer an extra number of Rak'aat.
By offering Takbir at the beginning of salat, we move hand and shoulder muscles thereby increasing the flow of blood towards torso. Akamat performs a similar function.
The most important function in salat is sajdah where we touch the ground with our forehead. This posture increases fresh supply of blood to our brain. Needless to say in certain forms of yoga some adherents stand on their heads for the same purpose.
In tashah'hud position, our hip, elbow, knee joints, backbone, wrist joints move in a way that it provides a form of relaxation to our entire body. Pressure is applied on the body parts as if it was a kind of massage which releases tension.
Thanks Almighty Allah that He made you a Muslim. Indeed, there is cure in salat.
