Wallsend is approximately three miles east of Newcastle along the river Tyne and historically has been a ship building community. This industry has waxed and waned over the years but other large industries have brought fresh employment into the area.

North Tyneside is also the site for other developments and there has been a steady expansion of new housing with an influx of new younger families.
