Dick Bruna werkt vanuit de basisgedachte van het openbaar onderwijs ‘niet apart, maar samen!’.

Op school leren de kinderen daarom begrip en waardering voor elkaar te hebben in een sfeer en omgeving waar alle kinderen zich thuis voelen, ongeacht godsdienst of
levensovertuiging, levensbeschouwing of sociale herkomst. Aandacht en respect voor onze multiculturele en veelzijdige samenleving horen daar ook bij. Centraal staat dat de kinderen en leerkrachten met wederzijds respect en een grote mate van tolerantie met elkaar om (leren) gaan. Onze deur staat open voor meerdere culturen en geloven. We willen een school zijn die actief pluriform is. Dit betekent dat we kinderen actief laten kennis maken met de verschillende wereldgodsdiensten.
