About Packstation Widgets Android App

The swiss army knife for everyone who uses the DHL Packstation. Packstation Widgets provides you with the following services:

• Automatically find the mTAN in your text messages. Get your mTAN number on a widget or by opening the app. No need to search through your inbox - your mTAN is already there!
• Set a reminder when you have picked up your parcel. Press the "picked up" button and the app will show you the pick up date.
• Store the barcode from your customer card. No problem when you left your customer card at home! You can store multiple barcodes so you can pick up parcels for other people as well. You can display barcodes on widgets or by opening the app.
(Older Packstation scanners can't read barcodes from your mobile. A customer card with a barcode is required for this feature. If you don't have a customer card bearing a barcode, get a new one from DHL: https://bit.ly/2mtmLxR)

The colors used in the mTAN widgeds can be selected when a widget is added to your home screen. There are widgets in three sizes.

So called "task killers" and "cleaner apps" might force this app to stop. If this happens, there is no way to notify this app about incoming text messages. I strongly recommend to exempt Packstation Widgets from being handled by such apps. You should also disable any energy saving options for this app in your system settings.

Xiaomi Miui users
The Miui operating system provides additional permissons to "Read service SMS" and "Autostart" (some versions). This permission can not be set programmatically, so you need to manually open your security manager and grant mTAN Widget & App these permissions.

Required permissions:
• Read SMS or MMS (to be able to access that text message from DHL)
• Receive SMS (to be able to intercept incoming text messages)
• Camera (to scan the barcode on your DHL customer card)
• The app does not require credentials or even internet access.

Important information:
• When the app tells you that "no information could be found" then ther is no text message from DHL in your inbox. Without this text message, the app will not be able to collect any information.
• From Android 6, the required permissions must be confirmed when the app starts for the first time. So tap the icon after installation and grant access to the required permissions. Once this is done, you can add the widget to your homescreen.
• The app stores your mTAN number only temporarily. You should not delete the DHL text message unless you have picked up your parcel.
• The app has no control if your operation system allows to add widgets to the lockscreen. Some Android versions have this feature, but some manufacturers switch it off in their own versions of the operating system.
• If the widgets do not show up in the wdgets list, the app might have been installed to external memory. Go to your app manager and move the app back to internal memory to fix this.
• This is not an official DHL app. The author is in no way related to DHL.

Support by e-mail - not by review
Reviews saying something like "does not work" are both wrong (have a look at the video; thousands of users use the app - including myself) and useless. If something doesn't work the way you would expect it to work, there can be multiple causes. Leaving a bad review doesn't help anyone. So please send an e-mail if there is something to complain about. Write your review after you had a chance to thoroughly test app and widget.
