About Pain Monitor 2.0 Android App

Dr. Azucena García Palacios is a researcher at the Psychology and Technology Laboratory (LABPSITEC) at Jaume I University Castellon (Spain). Chronic pain is one of her research areas.
This app aims at exploring how pain impacts on the daily lives of sufferers. During 30 days we will ask you a few questions associated with your pain (its intensity, associated fatigue and mood, etc.) twice a day (in the morning and in the evening). It will take you less than two minutes to respond to the questions.
We also want to monitor your acute pain episodes. Whenever you experience an acute pain episode, please open the app and answer to the questions.
All the information provided by you will be used to increase our knowledge on chronic pain and to try to improve the quality of life of sufferers.
By downloading the app you are accepting to participate in our research study ANONYMOUSLY.
Please contact us by mail ([email protected]) if you wish to participate in other ongoing investigations or if you want information about your results,

App content has been selected by a panel of pain experts following a biopsychosocial approach to pain and the recommendations of the Initiative on Methods, Measurement, and Pain Assessment in Clinical Trials (IMMPACT). The present material is being used for research purposes only, so it is protected by article 37 of Spanish intellectual property law 22/1987.

Content in the app has been created via consensus with pain experts at Labpsitec (Jaume I University) and the Pain Unit of the Vall d'Hebron Hospital. After a set of meetings, agreement was made on the variables to be assessed, as well as their content. App validity, utility, and acceptability have been investigated in chronic pain patients from the Pain Clinic at the Vall d’Hebron Hospital (manuscript in preparation).
