tweaks to the UX
Password Protector is yet another tool for saving the multitude of userid/password combinations that are taking over the world! The difference? Your passwords are encrypted on your device, then sent over wire and stored on a cloud server. What! Are you mad! Sure, I get it. And frankly if someone told me they were going to encrypt my passwords and store them on their server ... well I have some property in Florida you might be interested in. But I need this. I once used another free tool, but when I upgraded my phone I needed to re-enter all that data. Gimme a break! This is bomb proof. I use AES to encrypt all data BEFORE it is sent to the server. Listen, if you forget your personal encryption key, no one, and I mean no one, is going to get that data back for you. You have been warned. So I need yet another password to get into my passwords? Nope, not in this case. This app uses a visual pattern instead of a text based password. If you use the pattern lock on your Android phone, you know what I mean. So here is the scenario: you add all your data, you lean over a railing and drop your phone into the ocean (you have insurance), you get a new phone, you download Password Protector, reenter your personal key (ok - you have to remember at least that!), and presto all your data is available again. I doubt whether anyone except me, and people who know me will use this. There has to be a personal element of trust involved before an individual stores passwords on a remote device. But I need this, and I enjoyed the programming challenge. It's there to use if you want. Email me if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!
