In celebration of the year of Faith, Florence reveals itself to its pilgrim visitors through four different
urban pilgrimages which are testament to the city’s close ties between Faith and Art. The Cathedral is
the emblem of this union, and is both the starting point as well as ideal conclusion to any itinerary that
includes the polyptych from Giotto’s workshop.

One therefore discovers Florence’s devotion to the Mother of God in the Maternità di Maria
(Motherhood of Mary); the churches that hosted the pastor of the City in the Cattedre dei Vescovi
(Thrones of the Bishops); the tangible evidence of the florentine’s goodwill to one another in the luoghi

the city), the presence of the Religious Orders that have enlivened florence’s cultural life.
