Do you need to know the walking speed of pedestrians on a crosswalk? Don’t want to use old paper and stopwatch-based methodologies? Need to find out how different are the speeds depending on the signal indication displayed? No problem, this app will let you conduct average speed studies easily. Just enter the length of the crosswalk and hit start study. Then simply tap a button when a pedestrian enters the crosswalk and the same button once the pedestrian exits the crosswalk. The speed is automatically computed, displayed to you, and logged. You can easily indicate the signal indication that was displayed to the pedestrian by the tap of a button.

As you log additional speeds the average speed is constantly updated to give you a sense of how your speed study is going. Once your study is completed you can generate a CSV report containing all the raw data (speeds, timestamps, and corresponding signal indication) or simply take a look at a quick summary of the current study to know if you collected a statistically significant sample by looking at the number of speeds logged, the average, maximum, and minimum speeds, along with the standard deviation.

The report produced by the app can easily be shared via email or uploaded to a cloud drive without in a convenient CSV file format as many times as you’d like.

Don’t worry about losing the data collected, if your device runs out of battery or your phone crashes your data is safe. Every time that a single speed measurement is completed the data is automatically saved.

Want to start a study today and continue it tomorrow? No problem, you can add additional data to the same study as many times as you need by ‘Continuing’ an existing study.

Have a tablet? The app is designed to display a different interface when a large screen size is detected thus making the data collection process a simpler and intuitive one.
