Phan Boi Chau was born on December 26, 1867 in Dan Nhiem village, Nam Hoa commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province.

His father was Phan Van Pho, his mother was Nguyen Thi Nhan. He was a smart boy since he was 6 years old. He studied at 3 years old. He was 7 years old. He read the book of Lunyu.
