- no personal information is collected from group members except an email from the group head which is not made public
- each member needs just a pass to be able to read and send pmsgs
- pmsgs from one group are not visible to other groups
- no limit on the number of groups a person can be member of
- sending and reception of pmsgs can begin immediately after creation of group and addition of members
