About Ping : Connect, Locate Android App

The Ping App is a reactive location sharing application and is based on a simple principle: connect, locate.

Connect: connect with people you want to share your location with.
Locate: once you are connected you simply request their location and they can respond* by sharing their location

*There are two ways the app can respond to a location request:

1. Automatically - the app can be configured to run as a service and automatically respond to location requests with your latest location

2. Manually - you will receive a notification of a location request, to which you can accept (and send your location) or dismiss (your location will not be sent)

What makes this application unique?

This application is designed with simplicity in mind.
It uses Google Cloud Messaging to facilitate location request and response messages, to which the app reacts to.
This means the application does not constantly subscribe to Android location updates and does not send regular unnecessary location updates to a remote server - as do many applications on the market.
This reactive (and minimalistic) approach saves battery and data and lets you know where your connections are!
