Pirates were very mean, and they let nothing stand in their way of the pirate treasure. The corsair ship used to hide it's black flag, and only the captain corsair would give out the order to raise it, after they were close enough to their prey. They did that because people would be less suspecting of a normal ship getting too close, and the captain of the victim ship would not sound the alarm until it was too late.
