About PostureCoach Android App
PostureCoach can connect via bluetooth to two Shimmer3 brand Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). The set of IMUs (worn at the upper and lower back with a custom vest and belt) can measure the user's low-back angle, and resolve this rotation about its three principal axes -- trunk flexion/extension, lateral bending, and axial twist. While in use, PostureCoach compares these rotation measurements to a user-defined safety threshold, in real time. If the threshold is exceeded, PostureCoach causes a vibration to remind the user that their present posture is unsafe.
