PowerEye will send you an alert if the AC mains power at home or the office goes off or comes back on, such as during a electrical power outage (AC mains power failure). Great for monitoring electrical equipment like fridges, freezers, computers or any important or sensitive mains-powered device that requires action following a power outage (or even if you just want to monitor the AC mains power status).
Use any spare Android phone to monitor AC mains power failures or outages at home, the office, factory, in fact anywhere you want. It works in the background on your Android device and will continue monitoring when the screen blanks and the device goes into sleep mode.
PowerEye will not send subsequent alerts for repeated power outages or interruptions (like a short duration outage) within a preset time period - and you can set this period in the settings menu. So for instance if the AC mains power goes on and off repeated during say a ten minute period (the default interval setting in PowerEye), you will only get one alert.
An added feature is the run on start option - if the power outage is long enough for the phone’s battery to run out and the phone goes dead, when the power returns PowerEye will restart automatically and continue monitoring.
How do I use PowerEye?
Just plug the Android device (you can use a phone or tablet) running PowerEye into the same AC mains power socket (mains outlet) as the electrical equipment you want to monitor. PowerEye sends you a SMS text message or email (user configurable) when the power fails and goes off as in a power outage and will also send a notification when the power comes back on - useful to know the panic is over and you don’t need to take further action. Criminals sometimes turn off the AC mains power to a building prior to breaking in, PowerEye will alert you to this.
Can PowerEye Lite be controlled remotely?
Yes, you can send SMS text messages to start and stop monitoring, and to get PowerEye to send you a status report.
What do I need to use PowerEye?
Since PowerEye is a monitoring application it requires an email address and/or another phone to which it sends SMS text message alerts. PowerEye does require a dedicated Android device; use an old unit sitting in a drawer or buy a cheap Android phone to alert you to power outages.
How reliable is PowerEye?
PowerEye uses the latest cutting edge technology and is extensively tested. However please note that while normally very reliable, the delivery of SMS text messages and emails is not guaranteed by the Mobile Network Operators.
What is the difference between the Pro and Lite versions?
The only difference is that the Lite version has adverts. We strongly recommend trying PowerEye Lite first on your device to make sure it works correctly (not all Android devices are the same or 100% compatible).
