About Prolifics Scavenger Hunt Android App

Introducing Prolifics Scavenger Hunt Game powered by BlueMix. Prolifics developed a mobile app using IBM’s MobileFirst Toolkit using low level Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon device drivers. The application runs on BlueMix using the IBM Liberty server with a connection to a database to provide the users with clues to the location of the beacons. The app uses BLE to locate the beacons. The app supports both Android and iOS capable phones. Using existing mobile application components and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities of BlueMix. Come to the Prolifics booth at IBM Connect to play the game and to discuss how rapid development and deployment of mobile applications can help you.

Submission Notes
This application uses IBM MobileFirst Foundation and Apache Cordova (PhoneGap) frameworks and complies with the rules and regulations they set for naming and API utilization. Backend database is provided through a secure HTTPS connection to IBM BlueMix. The application detects Bluetooth Low Energy beacons (ibeacon) to provide a scavenger hunt game in the conference expo hall at the IBM conference. No push notifications or other APIs are used other than the Bluetooth and database connections.

During registration, we ask for user name and email so that we may contact them to deliver the scavenger hunt prize during the conference. The user's company name and phone number are optional fields.
