My goal was to make an app that was simply a beautiful experience that a user would enjoy for a few moments or few hours. I developed an auto-generating music architecture that includes algorithms to create new compositions based on the user’s initial screen taps. The music builds and descends in waves and can continue to calculate new arrangements indefinitely. I designed a simple, clean interface to respond to user taps and show visual representations of individual sound waves. Inspired by the graceful lines of jellyfish tendrils drifting in water, the line animations correspond to the attack and sustain of each synth sound.
