Our app uses the standard Android MediaPlayer API, the size of the buffer is decided in the firmware and is not something we can control. Some devices and OS versions have a very large buffer set, and require it to be filled before audio will play. Lower bitrates take longer to fill this buffer than higher bitrates do, so the buffering time is longer.
