# Production release, small GUI update
To run the software:
- Press the 'Start' button
- Turn the screen off
- Place flat (~ +-20deg) and screen up somewhere flat in the car. The dashboard is ideal. A gel pad on the dash is also a good place. If not, anywhere where the device will stay flat and still.
- Start to drive. When activated you'll hear a few short beeps. When the GPS is connected, you'll hear a wavy sound.
- When finished, pick up the device again. It will make a beep noise reversed.
About RoadAmp Android App
RoadAmp is software that surveys the quality of roads by analysing sensor data.
All you need to do is place the phone flat and face up in your car with the screen off. Then just drive. The software will sense badly uneven roads and add to your account at http://roadamp.com.
You'll need GPS active as well as a data connection. The data transferred uses very little of your data allowance.
Uneven roads and potholes can cause vehicle damage and can also cause accidents. This app was made to aid reporting of dangerous roads to help minimize these. You can see the severity of the hazards on the website http://roadamp.com by seeing the size of the circles on the map.
For ease of use, we auto create an anonymous user id for you and you can view your findings directly by tapping the link on the app.
