New features include a pregnancy calculator, updated art, improved navigation, and search functionality. Expanded content allows for a more holistic approach to pregnancy, birth, and the time after birth, and includes strategies for communities to work towards change.

- making birth safer – supplies to have ready before birth, how to help during each stage of labor, recognizing warning signs and when emergency care is needed

Safe Pregnancy and Birth App complements and supports the work of midwives, birth attendants, health educators, and communities to improve maternal and child health around the world. Like all apps from Hesperian Health Guides, it has been community-tested and vetted by medical professionals. This app does not collect personal information.
Once downloaded, the app does not require an internet connection. If connected, users will be able to access links to additional information on sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, and resources for LGBTQIA+ people and people with disabilities.
