The Texas Historical Commission (THC) - the state agency for historic preservation - offers a map tour to San Felipe de Austin's Colonial era, including selected points of interest relevant. The settlement was burned in March 29, 1836 and there are no surviving buildings from that period on the site. The tour uses as a reference a town plat drawn by Seth Ingram and is recorded in the 'Registro' of Austin’s First Colony. It is part of the collection of the Texas General Land Office Archives.
From western forts and adobe structures to Victorian mansions and pivotal battlegrounds, the Texas Historical Commission’s state historic sites illustrate the breadth of Texas history. Come explore the real stories at the real places.
