About Sandsacks Android App
Instructions
Use the program only as a mere exercise in mathematical dimensions of a dam to stem a flood of water.
The flow of rivers are often dammed with a raising of the shore using sandsacks properly prepared.
The sacks are usually of jute and are partially filled.
For the sand calculations, the required number of sacks and pallets the program implements the following approximations:
- each sack is approximated to a parallelepiped
- the dam expand in length, height and depth
- the 3 dimensions of the dam are proportional to the respective dimensions of the sack
- the calculation of the number of sacks is approximated up to the next integer
- the calculation of the volume of sand is approximated to the next cubic meter
- the calculation of the pallet sacks provides for a uniform distribution of equal weight on each pallet, is not taken into consideration reached the height of the load on the pallet
Plausible values in a real case.
- The sack is filled partially, approximately 1/2 to 2/3 of its volume. In this way a piece of flap remains available on which the next sack is layed. The size of filled sack could be 35cm x 15cm x 25cm (WxHxD)
- The dam can be as long as you want. The depth affect the number of sacks to be placed beside. For higher dam put sacks file one beside the other. Initial values for high and depth could be 50cm x 50cm
- The humidity of the sand affects its specific weight that could indicate in the range of 1 kg/dm3 and 2 kg/dm3
- Pallet capacity. It is considered pallets with capacities from 1 to 2 t; read characteristic declared by the manufacturer
Precautions when using the programm
- Become familiar with the use of app not in emergency situations
- Keep in mind that the calculation is purely mathematical
- The program does not consider loss of sand along the transportation, loss of sand during filling of sacks
- The program does not consider arrangement error of sacks
- The program does not consider not explicitly mentioned other variables (humidity, holes in the sacks, operators ability, stability of the structure, etc.)
- The construction of a dam must be done with the supervision of hydraulic technicians who analyze the situation so that the intervention is effective and does not create additional danger situations
