Science in your mobile is an initiative from the Universitary Institute for Biocomputation and Physics of Complex Systems (BIFI) at the University of Zaragoza in collaboration with Ibercivis Foundation aiming to make science closer to young people through mobile app for smartphones based in different scientific areas.
In the framework of the European project Socientize (further information at www.socientize.eu) and taking advantage of the skilled development team at BIFI, a multi-game app has been created where there are four ways to collaborate with science:
- Cell Spotting: Real images from cell cultures taken through an inverted fluorescence microscope at BIFI facilities are analised. Namely, research deals with cell death working with two parameters.
- Mind Paths: Underlying goal is to determine word distances through the conceptual analysis that everyone does about it. Given two words (origin and target) and a network of words related to them, user must choose one of those related words to the first one that seems to make reaching as soon as possible the target word.
- Sun4All: Users analise stains at the sun in pictures taken by Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in order to help understanding activity and solar cycle.
- Mbilab: An app to obtain measures from smartphone sensors to be measured in different situations.
Project funded by FECYT.
Thanks to Xavier Mellado Esteban for his collaboration in the development of the project.
