This Mobile App is a medical calculator which indicates the probability that a boy, aged from 10 to 16 both inclusive and who plays football, of having Short Hamstring Syndrome either grade I or II (straight leg raise test less than 70º and/or more than 15º in the passive knee extension test) and in the case of only grade II (straight leg raise test less than 60º and/or passive knee extension test greater or equal than 35º).
To calculate this probability we need to know the following parameters: toe-touch test, body mass index, age and laterality.
To obtain the final result, this App will calculate the adding of points based on the potential risk of the previous parameters. A boy will have a higher risk of Short Hamstring Syndrome at a younger age, lower toe-touch value and lower body mass index. On the other hand, a younger boy with lower toe-touch test value, higher body mass index and left footed will have a higher probability of short hamstring syndrome grade II. According to the obtained points, the boys will be classified in a risk group and each group will have an associated probability of having short hamstring syndrome.
If a patient belongs to a high risk group, we must send him to physiotherapy to start the short hamstring syndrome treatment as soon as possible and in this way diminish the future consequences.
