About Smart Translation Learner 譯智通 Android App

Smart Translation Learner 譯智通 is funded by the Faculty of Arts for the engagement of CUHK students in their translation learning in the online environment and beyond, as well as peer and teacher interaction. It can be used for assessing students’ knowledge and application of translation strategies, and their teamwork if used for group projects. It is applicable in diverse courses in the Translation programme, including Basic Skills of Translation, Culture and Translation, all practical translation courses, all interpreting courses, and Lexicography and Translation.

Student users can input bilingual texts and store the data in the app for the following functions:

a. Build up a bilingual vocabulary bank;
b. Analyze the translation strategies used in individual data items;
c. Discuss the effectiveness of the translation with peers and teachers with the exported data; and
d. Share translation examples with peers on social media.
