Das SNOWDANCE INDEPENDENT FILMFESTIVAL wurde 2013 von dem deutschen Schauspieler Heiner Lauterbach, dem tatort-Regisseur Tom Bohn und dem Marketingfachmann Jürgen Farenholtz gegründet. Das Ziel, auch in Deutschland ein Independent Filmfestival nach dem Vorbild von Robert Redfords SUNDANCE INDEPENDENT FILMFESTIVAL zu platzieren, ist ein voller Erfolg.
Unabhängig gedrehte Filme wachsen in ihrer Popularität und finden eine stetig wachsende Gemeinde, denen die Blockbuster aus Hollywood zu seicht und vorhersehbar geworden sind. Der Independent Film hat sich von diesen Fesseln befreit und wächst weltweit mit eigenständigen, ungewöhnlichen, unerwarteten Inhalten, Drehbüchern, Kamera, Ton, Schnitt - alles unterwirft sich nicht mehr den Vorgaben von Redaktion oder Produktion. Man geht seinen eigenen Weg, produziert und provoziert und schafft sich seinen eignen, ständig wachsenden Anteil am Kuchen für das große Kino.
