Fixes java.lang.SecurityException associated with new security enhancements in Android Marshmallow. Android now offers user-facing controls over some app permissions. You will be asked to grant individual app permissions the first time you attempt to read SMS messages with the following popup:
"Allow Spot Shot to send and view SMS messages? DENY ALLOW"
Use Spot Shot to immediately display SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger text messages on your phone, along with an address and location on the map. Then, navigate to the location or go to SPOT's full-featured, mobile app.
SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger is a GPS tracking device that uses the Globalstar satellite network to provide text messaging and GPS tracking. SPOT allows short, pre-defined text messages to be sent to a list of telephone and e-mail addresses and also allows users to push their location to emergency services.
Once you’ve purchased a SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger, create your account on www.findmespot.com, create a Message Profile, and add your phone number and a pre-defined text message for each of the message button types: Check In/OK, Custom, and Help/SPOT Assist. When one of these three buttons is pressed, SPOT will send your pre-defined text message to your phone.
Spot Shot listens for SMS text messages from SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger ([email protected]) and immediately displays the message, lat/lon location, device name, and date/time when it is received.
Spot Shot also displays a street address for the location, if it exists and if the Android Geocoder service is available.
Spot Shot also displays a map snapshot of the location, if the Google Static Maps service is available.
You can click on the currently displayed message to bring up a list of all messages received. Then select a message on the list to display its address and location on the map.
You can click on the current map snapshot to switch to a Map application, if installed on the phone, to navigate to the location.
You can push the lower right action button to switch to the SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger mobile application, if installed on the phone, to use all of SPOT’s app features.
Since Spot Shot listens for SPOT Satellite GPS Messenger SMS text messages, Spot Shot only works on Android devices with telephony hardware (i.e. phones).
