The SPS application has been developed so that everyone can solve 2D structures. Is based on the Direct Stiffness Method (DSM). The nodes model is rigid but you can introduce some degrees of freedom at the beam extremes.
You can create a lot of differents kind of loads, those are: structure weight, nodal loads, loads applied at a point of the beam, loads distributed along the beam and thermal loads.
The app let you generate different supports, like movable supports, hinged supports, fixed supports, elastic supports and you can also introduce prescribed nodal movements.
In addition, you can obtain a lot of graphic and numeric results. The graphic results are: deflected structure, axial forces curves, shearing forces curves and bending moment curves. The numeric results are compound by different lists. The application give you a nodes list, a list of displacements in different sections along the beam, a list of efforts in different sections along the beam and a complete list of maximum values in each beam.
The SPS application is the result of a university project. Therefore we reccommend this app for engineering and architecture students and also for younger people interested in mechanic subjets or new technologies. SPS could be interesting even for engineers when they need to solve easy structures.
Although the app gives reliable results, the use you give to the app will be under your responsability, this app can be use as complement but never as replacement of computer software.
