About The Gospels - King James (KJV) Offline Android App

The first four books in the New Testament are called the Gospels, which are centered and focus on the life of Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the world. The Gospel can refer to the good news about Jesus Christ or the message preached by Jesus Christ.
It is not books on the biography of Jesus but the accounts of his life, teachings, miracles he has done, his character, and the values and principles he hold as the incarnate Son and image of God.

The <>four Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have unique perspectives and emphasis in narrating the story of Jesus Christ and his life on earth but follow the same pattern, order and words which can be studied and observed except for the Gospel of John whose narratives are quite unique from the three writers. The Apostle John emphasized more on Jesus Christ as the Son of God and his narratives contain more quotations and sayings from Jesus and less of the parables unlike with the three writers.

In the Gospel of Matthew, it begins with the genealogy of Jesus stating all the generations of Jesus Christ from Abraham down to Joseph, his earthly father (Mat. 1:1-25). This is the only Gospel that wrote on the genealogy of Christ. It also focused much on the teachings of Jesus Christ and among the popular teachings is the Beatitudes or Sermon on the Mount (Mat. 5:1-12).

<>The Gospel according to Mark is believed to be the oldest and first Gospel written. Among the four Gospels, Mark gave more details on the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. It also does not contain the nativity of Jesus Christ but begins with the message of John the Baptist.

The Gospel according to Luke provides the readers more background on the nativity of Jesus and also John the Baptist. This is also the only Gospel which wrote about the life account of Jesus Christ when he was twelve years old (see Luke 2:41-55). Among the famous parables of Jesus Christ also comes from this book such as The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), and the Rich Man Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).

And in the Gospel of John, the different among the three begins by saying, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1) and that Jesus Christ is the Word made Flesh. Among the most famous verse comes from this book which says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This is the only Gospel accounts that emphasized the love of God through the life of His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Gospels is the heart of the Bible as God’s heart is revealed and poured out through and in the life of His Son, Jesus Christ. Readers who are seeking knowledge about Jesus Christ will find everything about him in the four Gospels, the foundation of faith.
