Thirukkural written by Thiruvalluvar ( திருவள்ளுவர் ) is a classic Tamil sangam literature with a universal perspective of ethics in life. The couplets each one concise with seven words, are structured into three sections namely, Virtue, Wealth and Love.

The english transliteration, translation and meaning is by Rev Dr G U Pope, Rev W H Drew, Rev John Lazarus and Mr F W Ellis.
