Minor bug fixes
This app calculates the minimum required diameter of a shaft under fluctuating torsion and bending moment. The calculations in this application are based on fatigue stress life theory and uses four methods of calculation: ASME-elliptic, Gerber, modified Goodman and Soderberg. First cycle yielding is checked by Langer equation. In its most basic use, app needs to be provided with only 3 inputs to calculate shaft diameter. These 3 inputs are UTS, Yield and torque. It will display minimum required shaft diameter on the main screen as soon as you finish typing the input values. The calculation is done in runtime after every press of key in input field.
As the app is based on fatigue stress life method, it needs Endurance limit for calculation. This Endurance limit is calculated by app itself using material’s Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS). It can be further modified using “Endurance limit modification factors” for more precise results.
User interface of the app is kept very simple by hiding secondary parameters behind the screen. These parameters can be accessed using “Advance Options” tab if required.
This app supports both Metric & Imperial unit system. When user changes the unit system, all values are automatically converted to the newly selected unit system
This app can also be used for pins, axles, spindles or any other round shape members under torsion or bending load.
This seemingly simple app is capable of solving complex problems involving combined torsion and bending loads. It is highly recommended to read the user guide before using this app.
